Getting Ready for New Orleans

Hello Everyone!

I am getting ready for a girls trip to New Orleans for the Take Action Get Profits seminar that is going on October 4th, 5th and 6th.

Do you have any idea how excited I am? I have wanted to go to New Orleans since I read Anne Rice‘s novels as a teenager. My favorites are The Witching Hour series where the story takes place in and was inspired by Anne’s home in the Garden District. I just want to drive by and see it in person. I will be staying in the French Quarter which is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the Garden District.  And who could pass up the opportunity to take a Ghost and Vampire Tour!? I’m soooooo doing this. They meet at Rev. Zombie’s Voodoo Shop. This is New Orleans afterall. How could you pass that up? Besides, I’m totally into that stuff.

I will have limited time to do any touring due to the seminar being an all day thing all three days (as it should be), so I trying plan it all out so I can make the most of my time. If you have been to New Orleans and/or have any suggestions, please post them below. I would love to hear them!

Among all the tourist planning, I am also planning for all the food preparation. Traveling on a raw diet isn’t impossible or even more difficult. It just takes a little advanced prep time is all. Going to a big city like New Orleans isn’t a huge concern since there will be some good market selections including the French Market that has a Farmer’s Market. My favorite! Buying fresh, local and organic is the best way to go.

So, what am I making? I’m glad you asked.

Here is what I have planned so far.

I have a big batch of Coconut Lime Chips in the dehydrator (2 days before departure) for traveling snacks. Lets just hope them make it to New Orleans. Those things are addicting!

Raw Brownie Balls – I’ll be soaking the nuts for these tonight so they are ready to go in the morning. These will make great pop in the mouth and go treats.

Other Foods:

For Green Smoothies:
Goji Berries
Superfood powders (see below)

Raw Cacao
Alfalfa Juice Powder – I add this to water to make a nutritious tea on the go.

Kitchen Items:
My beloved Red Vitamix – To make smoothies in the hotel room of course.
Bamboo Cutting Board – Thin and light. Perfect anywhere, even in hotel rooms.

I am lucky enough that by love, Lee Collins, has a Portable Compact Fridge/Freezer for the car that just plugs into the cigarette lighter. I’m even luckier that he lets me borrow it for these kinds of trips. It has enough room to store all of my raw supplies for the 12 hour drive. Not to mention it sure is nice having ice cold water to drink. It has proven to be an invaluable trip accessory that has made it so much easier for me to travel. Thanks baby!
