Easy THM Spaghetti Sauce

Looking for a fast, easy and delicious spaghetti sauce that’s sugar free too?

You’ve come to the right place.

This recipe will taste like you spent all day in the kitchen letting it simmer. It’s our secret that you don’t have to. In fact, you’re looking at about 20 minutes to make this.

Easy THM Spaghetti Sauce

3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dried basil (can also use a small handful of fresh basil)
1 6oz can tomato paste
2 cups water
1 15oz can crushed fire roasted tomatoes
1 tsp onion powder
1-2 tsp pink Himalayan salt (to taste)
1 tsp Italian seasoning herb blend
1 tsp sweetener (I use Beyond Sugar Island Sweet*)
1/2 lb leftover THM meatloaf (recipe found in the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook*) or grass fed hamburger + 1/4 chopped onion (both optional – leave out for vegetarian/vegan option)

Directions:

On the stove, heat a medium size pot, add olive oil, minced garlic and basil. Saute the garlic and basil in the oil until the garlic barely starts to turn golden. Add the tomato paste and 1/2 cup water. Mix in your other spices, salt, and sweetener. Simmer for a few minutes, then add the remaining water and crushed fire roasted tomatoes. Let simmer for 15 minutes. Longer if desired (for a richer, deeper flavor), but not necessary.

Add the leftover meatloaf and bring back to a simmer.

If you don’t have leftover meatloaf, while the sauce is simmering, cook up and brown the hamburger meat and chopped onion. Drain. Add to sauce and bring back to a simmer.

Let simmer for 5 more minutes and you are ready to serve this on your choice of noodles or even as a pizza sauce.

Vegetarian/Vegan option

If you want the “meat” texture without the animal products, add 1 cup of the Walnut Taco “Meat” instead.
