[PODCAST 006] Sugar, The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

I’m going to just say it…I’m human.

I’ve slipped on my diet the past few years. Yes, I still eat healthy, but not raw vegan healthy. It just wasn’t sustainable for me anymore and the temptation for things like cookies crept in.

The other day, something incredibly profound happened to me…

The past several weeks my mid back has hurt severely. Pinched nerve…rib out of place…something. It was hard to sleep and dropped me to my knees when I sneezed (the cottonwood trees are going crazy here) making it so I had to brace myself every time it happened.

It’s some serious pain.

I’ve been going deep to listen to what the screaming pain was trying to tell me.

Our bodies are super intelligent and will tell you what is wrong.

Thing was, I was listening for weeks and couldn’t hear anything.

Then one day I heard it. Loud and clear.

I had dropped into a deep meditation to go into the pain again and listen. At this point I was at my whits end and this time I was finally able to tap into what was going on.

I heard the word.

I was shocked.

Sugar was causing the pain in my back. Turns out it was also creating a wall between me and my ability to tap into my own inner authority and intuition.

I tell you the rest of the story and more about sugar in Episode 6 of the Fit and Fresh Life Podcast:

Great thing is, each Dosha has it’s own recommended sweeteners and foods for sweetness.

For Vata it’s sweeteners like xylitol, coconut sugar, dates, honey, maple syrup, monk fruit sweetener, and stevia and avoiding cane juice or cane syrup and of course white sugar.

For Pitta it’s sweeteners like xylitol, coconut sugar, dates, raw honey, maple syrup, monk fruit sweetener, and steal, and avoiding brown sugar, cane sugar, cane syrup, regular honey, jaguar, molasses, and white sugar.

For Kapha it’s sweeteners like xylitol, raw honey, monk fruit sweeter, stevia, and avoiding artificial sweeteners, barley malt, date sugar, fructose, processed honey, maple syrup, white sugar.

White sugar is on the NO list for all 3 types! So, listen up honey, white sugar is simply not good for any us. No matter what your Dosha type is.

There are different ways to get the sweetness into your diet without harming your body or your inner authority in the process.

All the sweeteners I just mentioned, fruits, grains (yes grains), and even dairy.

If you’d like to discover what your inner authority is and how to hear it, I’m offering a free 1/2 hour mini coaching session. If this feels aligned for you, reserve a spot on my calendar at: https://fitandfreshlife.com/mini.
