Chocolate Green Smoothie

When you were a kid, did your mom ever tell you that you couldn’t have cookies for breakfast…

And then you saw the commercial for Cookie Crisp Cereal?

Did it blow your little mind to the point where you just couldn’t contain the excitement of FINALLY being able to eat what you wanted to for breakfast, begging and pleading with your mom to get you a box until she crumbled under the pressure?

Remember that?

I sure do!

In fact, I remember being so besides myself excited if only for the fact that my elementary self could finally prove my mom wrong on something. Anything! Especially having cookies for breakfast.

Oh, sweet victory.

Yeah, I was kindof a little shit like that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now, as adults we actually know better know that she really was right, or at least she was doing her best to look out for our health.

Then there is chocolate itself.

That beloved, sweet, sinfully delicious way to bring that childhood smile back to your lips.

Only, it’s not suppose to be for breakfast either.

Until now!

Introducing a healthy (and most delicious) way to have chocolate for breakfast that won’t expand your waistline. In fact, it can help to shrink it!

Oh, the liberty of it all!

Here’s the recipe:

Chocolate Green Smoothie Recipe

1 fresh or frozen banana
1/2 apple
1 tsp raw cacao powder (or more to taste)
2 handfuls of baby spinach
1 heaping tsp of flax seeds
1-2 cups of water

Blend all of the ingredients together in a high powered blender*.

If you want to make it nice and cold, add some ice to it.

*NOTE: If you are using a standard blender, you will want to grind your flax seeds first by putting them in the blender and blending them separately for about 30 seconds. Then add the other ingredients and blend all together.

Enjoy having chocolate for breakfast again!
