THM Baking Blend Copycat Recipe
This past year I’ve been following the Trim Healthy Mama (THM) plan and have been loving the recipes and of course the results.
One thing about the recipes though is that so many of them call for the THM Baking Blend, which can be found on their website, at their store in Nashville, TN, on Amazon, and if you’re lucky, a local health food store. Which isn’t exactly practical for most of us.
In both THM cookbooks, they give the “make it yourself” recipe that is 1 cup each coconut flour, golden flax seed meal, and almond flour.
BUT…if you look at the ingredients of their official baking blend, there are a few other ingredients, oat fiber being the first one.
The official THM baking blend is a Fuel Pull (FP) while the “make it yourself” baking blend in the cookbooks is actually a “S” recipe.
To me the miss match is simply annoying. So, I did some digging for you to find the actual THM Baking Blend recipe so you can make it at home and be able to follow the recipes to a T, plus keep them from becoming accidental crossovers.
Here’s the recipe:
THM Baking Blend Copycat Recipe
1 cup oat fiber
1/2 cup coconut flour
1/3 cup golden flax seed meal
3T Almond Flour
3T Hydrolyzed Collagen
1T Glucomannan or Xanthum Gum
Combine all and store in an airtight container. Use with all your favorite THM recipes.
Thanks for giving this recipe. I am following the THM plan as well, and wanted to be able to make my own baking blend for a variety of recipes, not just S.
Do you use equal amount of this recipe for other flours in a recipe? Other recipes claim it’s a bit drier than regular thm. So they recommend 3tb of there ole to 1/4 c flour. How does your recipe play out?
Hi Karen!
I do use equal amounts and so far it’s worked perfectly without issues. I do play with my recipes a lot and follow the THM recipes most of the time for best results. I have found their recipes to be better overall when compared to traditional recipes.
It’s also a little weirder to work with because of the texture difference, so feel free to play with what works best for you.
Is it less expensive to make your THM baking blend than buying it prepackaged from THM?
Some folks in my home are allergic to almonds. Do you think I could sub ground pecan meal (I could also make it finer crumb in my vitamix blender).
